I've been going to Rebel House for years, usually after a movie at the nearby Varsity. It's consistently good - though not at its peak, when Lili Sullivan ruled the kitchen. Always a pleasant reception. Good service. The upstairs dining room is, I find, often crowded and noisy. People always bumping into you (though they politely apologize). So I'll usually try for a table on the quieter main floor, located just behind the tiny kitchen. With just five tables located back there, I'm not always successful. Stick with the simple dishes - soup, salads, sandwiches (I'm partial to the club sandwich), mac-'n'-cheese and such, and you'll do just fine. I've got a weakness for the kettle fries which accompany many of the dishes. Not too many false steps from that kitchen. Ideal pub food, in my view. The back patio is supposed to be pleasant in the summer, or so I'm told - but I've never tried it.
P.S. East and Main, mentioned above, where Lili Sullivan now presumably presides, was pretty good when I tried it late last summer - and lots of fun. But Blumen Garden, also in PEC and somewhat more sedate, was even better. Two strong restos for anyone dropping in to Prince Edward County. Not exactly pub food, though.
