Tried Explorer Cafe again when I was last up.
Still pretty good (but casual).
One item that was noteworthy - they served 'Lafontaine' Potatoes on 1 (at least) of the dishes, and they were superb.
Although this si a geographic identifier (and Lafontaine is prized in the area) I was 'almost certain' these were a new variety to me and, indeed, the cchef confirmed he gets several different varieties, depending on season. Right now they're 'Yellow Finn' - and if you are close, give them a try. They're quite buttery (OK waxy) and seem sweeter than most.
If only retailers here would identify varieties of potato - there are hundreds out there and typically we only get maybe half a dozen identified in stores, with only a few extra types at farmers' markets.
And an update - Mad Michael reopens on 16th May.
