Barely anyone outside of a few italian restaurants will know what an americano cocktail is (but then again same goes for a negroni in Toronto just a little over 2 years ago). You will probably get a watered down espresso. If you want to get an americano cocktail, just order a negroni and ask them to hold the gin, and add some carbonated water instead.
