Went to Modern Jelly on the weekend with los ninos. We ordered one of each, carrot cake, red velvet, smore and maple bacon. Overall, they weren't bad but everyone thought they were really sweet. Almost too sweet to eat an entire doughnut.
My son liked the maple bacon one best, I'm not a huge fan of that flavour overall, but they were pretty good.
Red Velvet was our general least favourite. It was bright red opposed to a deep red that you normally find in RV. I could barely taste any chocolate at all. Just run of the mill
Smore was a huge messy thing with a melted marshmellow in the hole. It was really tasty but way too sweet. Good chocolate tho.
Carrot cake, this I was really excited for. I've been hoping that one of the new crop of donut joints would make one and this was one of the big reasons we drove crosstown to hit MJ. This was my fave but again, the frosting was way too sweet. Nice cake and a delicious touch with a piece of candied carrot on top.
