Pho88 - Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
In the past, Pho88 opposite Bamburgh Circle at Steeles/Warden was regularly mentioned as one of the more acceptable Pho places in the Markham/Scarborough area.
Since I was in the vicinity running some errands, I decided to pay it a re-visit. As in the past, the place was packed, servers were grouchy resulting in lousy service.
I had a bowl of Pho noodles with rare beef and brisket and an order of Vietnamese Spring Roll.
What the hack happened?? That bowl of Pho was simply BAD! BAD! BAD!! My 'rare' beef were all fully cooked when arrived at my table. A huge grey ball of meat all stuck together! I thought the beef are supposed to be individual pink slices, when ordered rare??!!
Broth was equally unacceptable! Diluted and bland! I could have done a better job by boiling some Campbell Beef Broth with a couple of Star Anise!!
The Spring Roll was fortunately quite delicious. ( may be the owner should change the store name to Spring Roll 88 instead of Pho 88??!! Ha! ).
If I had known, I would have gone to Sam Woo for some Cantonese roasted meat and rice instead!!
