Yeah I ate here this past weekend as well. My assessment was the same as yours. Everything feels made in-house, though you certainly pay for it. Did not get to try the spaetzle though, which sounds interesting with ham hock (even when living in Germany, I never had spaetzle with ham hock). Might have to go back and try it as a side to the schnitzel.
I got the sausage trio BTW, the best of which was the cooked version of the one that comes on the smorgasbord.
