The Artisan Baker

I strolled in, but didn't buy. Breads looked fine but pastries (at least some of them) looked 'bought-in' - particularly the macarons which only came in identical boxed sets. I glanced at the prepared foods (for lunch) and 3 of the 4 featured tomatoes - which aren't in season right now! The sandwiches looked like the best bet - but seemed expensive for the area - very small baguettes for $10.95 - significantly higher than Boccone say (cf. $6.95 and larger portions) which is my benchmark in the neighbourhood. BUT, to be fair, I didn't do a taste test. My guess is that their overhead is massive, given the size of the space (I think the previous occupant seated over 100), so I'm not sure whether this will be a success based on the handful of people dining their for their $21.95 prix-fixe menu, which seemed to be on a steam-table.
