After reading the NOW review, I went tonight and picked up take-out from them. It was really fantastic.
Also was remarkably inexpensive for the Toronto restaurant scene.
We got a whole roasted chicken with two sides for $25 tax in. The chicken was excellent - beautifully done seasoning and stuffed with lemon and maybe lemongrass? I'm not normally a huge fan of chicken skin but this chicken was awesome.
One side was a barley-based salad with chopped veg. The other was a lentil-based salad with shitake mushrooms. Both excellent. The other option was roasted beets with candied walnuts (or something similar).
I'll be going back to check out the rest of their menu. It seemed like there's a small space for eating in (and they have Beau's Lug tread on tap), but it appears to be mostly take-out.
Folks were friendly, food was good, and it was not steeped in the gimmicky madness that has taken the restaurant scene by storm here. Just straight up, very good eats. A huge gem for the Dundas West / Roncy neighbourhood (especially given their prices relative to the other joints nearby!)
FWIW, this is my first post on ChowHound -- I came to check out if the NOW article was true, and felt obliged to post in support of these folks because I had such a good experience.
