Fantastic Japanese grilled meat and fish/seafoood on sticks!
It is tapas style eating.
Be sure to try the chicken with cheese, premium beef, fried chicken knees, pork stick, premium beef tongue, oropon beef, squid, and chicken gizzards. Everything is good really and complete with different sauces for each.
I found the execution and flavouring equally matched to their original Denman location in Vancouver.
NOTE: Call ahead if you must wait until they get their liquor license otherwise take advantage of the easy to get tables right now!

Christmas at Toronto: Good idea or not?
Having not read this thread at all, but being surprised you are in Toronto, if you have not had korean yet, there is great korean food on bloor street, bloor and christie subway stop, there are 2 places, one called owl of minerva, and then another place almost beside it, i prefer the place beside it, so good and cheap food
if you want to try coffee, sam james just down the street is my favourite coffee in the city, I will try to come up with more but you will likely be leaving soon, go back in january when I will be there
and have you had poutine yet?
and there is good pho in toronto too.
I am so late to reply to the thread, but I was away myself

Champagne Markups (Globe Sat Dec 29 article)
Thanks for posting that. l love this quote in the article: 'Nick Di Donato, Pres & CEO Liberty Entertainment Group, which owns Rosewater (its price for the Billecart-Salmon is $195, a markup of 150 per cent) says the central problem with wine and champagne pricing is that restaurateurs receive no discount for bulk buying from the LCBO'.
Oh, so he bases his high mark-up on the fact he doesn't get a discount? So, he charges lower markups when the price he pays for a bottle is lower? Hardly!
I think that if a bottle of bubbly has a ridiculous mark-up we should just tell the server how many bottles we are willing to buy at what price and they can either take it or leave it.

Wanda's Pie in the Sky---a view on a few of them
Any experience with the pecan pie?
Chocolate cookie crust is what they should use for pies that need refrigeration. I'll definitely try this (you mean the one on Queen East?).
Ever tried their pecan pie... by chance?

Henckels knife sharpener in TO?
The Kitchen and Glass Place on Yonge across the street from the Toronto Reference Library brings in a pro sharpener from time to time. Give them a call. It's a lovely little shop jam packed with lots of goodies for the kitchen.

Soccer bar in Durham Sunday or Scarborough
Hey all,
Any suggestions on a good soccer pub to watch the Chelsea v. Everton match tomorrow morning in Durham region or Scarborough? We are staying in Ajax this weekend and wanted to stay close to home as its a morning match (8am)
A place with a good breakfast and beer list would be ideal in addition to a good atmosphere.
Thanks in advance
